about
This is a heartbreaking hungarian folk song about a breakup from the Bukovina region. It uses a beautiful analogy: "How will we ever part, my love? We will part as a star parts from it's light."
Hungarian folklore has such deep teachings that transcend time and space. That's why I am mesmerised by these haunting melodies, and find new ways to use them in my music. Thank you for being here.
lyrics
A citrusfa levelestől, ágastól.
Hogy váljunk el régi babám egymástól?
Úgy elválunk régi babám, egymástól
mint a csillag fényes ragyogásától.
Életemben csak egy csillag ragyogott.
Annak a csillagnak sok irigye volt.
Eltiltották tőlem azt a csillagot
Ki az én bús életemre ragyogott.
Édesanyám gyengén nevelt engemet.
Mégse tudja az én bús életemet.
Mert ha tudná az én bús életemet
éjjel nappal sirathatna engemet.
